I still don't trust Microsoft.
at this point - what major tech company can you trust? Google? Amazon? Apple? Facebook? Twitter?

We're all using shit that none of us trust, is all anti-consumer, anti-free speech, anti-privacy, anti-labor, pro-police state, pro-monopoly, all with the will, ability and intent to capture and bend our governments to their will and we've all internalized this as ok.

A few of us tried to de-google for a while. We spent 10+ years going on and on about the linux desktop until mobile devices and cloud services subverted the whole point. Some of us don't shop at Amazon, but well buy into something. Some William Gibson or Black Mirror future is coming for us and we're all enabling it.

They're all part of open standards bodies, all wiht seats on FOSS boards. They all are "perfectly" dedicated to philanthropic causes, just enough to keep the public off their backs, they're all turning the globe into one big HR department where every aspect of human interaction of policed by automation to ensure we're all perfectly decent, correctly political and palatable to advertisers. They'll support BLM with millions of donations and then give cops access to all our camera doorbells without warrant, they'll censor your offensive thoughts on social media and then build weapons for the military. They'll kill our local economies, ruin our concept of privacy and then sell us some pseudo-privacy back at a premium, only later to take it away b/c of terrorism or child porn or some kind of easily sellable wrapper.
