Can they remove them from Google image search results while they're at it?
Yes please. I am sick of Pinterest links in images.
I wish Pinterest would buy tineye, it wouldn’t be so bad if the pins pointed to the original source (and dropping the login-wall…)
Hopefully it'll never happen: Pinterest has no intention of letting users find better sources for the images; if they bought Tineye they would either kill it or make it point the first result pages to images hosted on Pinterest.
Surely, Google knows that Pinterest gamed the algorithm and made image search a total farce.

So I wonder why is Google choosing not to ban Pinterest?

Maybe some antitrust concern?
Seconded, thirded and fourthed; Pinterest results make image searches a nightmare! Actually there is a browser addon called "unpinterested" which filters out all pinterest results, and it works well, but for some reasons it's not compatible with Google Maps, so you may want to disable it when using GMaps.

yes! what can we do to make this happen?

anyone from @google that can guide us in banning pinterest from google image search results?

That or other sites could match/outdo Pinterest in image search optimization.

I think the content on Pinterest is pretty thin, but when I want to see pictures of oddly specific things (e.g. finished basement ideas) it returns a lot of visual results to scroll through

i keep seeing these pinterest complaints. i haven't gotten any, what are you guys looking up? pumpkin spice latte results are gonna turn up pinterest results for sure. ymmv
But…why?
They're both equally horrible companies/products. I guess PayPal doesn't want to dillute their dreadfulness.
Pinterest is filled with ads. I wonder if it's for data on what people are interested in and perhaps have an opportunity to finance a customers purchase.
FedNow instant payments are rolling out in 2023, obsoleting anyone who settles payments instantly today (Venmo, PayPal, Cash App, etc). Have to go upmarket to survive. PayPal buying Pinterest is an attempt to evolve into Etsy, Shopify, or Instagram with a Buy button, getting paid to facilitate the value transfer.
Honestly good for them (Paypal), can't wait for Pinterest to turn into some bloated online billboard.
But why?
probably to show "growth" to shareholders?!
