I think I have a mild and slightly morbid obsession with Swartz. It just seemed like after he died, a lot of the web went downhill. His death is a marker for the death of a lot of dreams about what the web meant, and about people exercising autonomy on the internet.
Aaron makes an appearance in the 2005 documentary "Aardvark'd: 12 Weeks with Geeks", which was a documentary about interns building a product at at FogBugz (by Joel Spolsky, now known for Trello and Stack Overflow). I watched it again recently after many years and was sad to see Aaron appear with his unbridled optimism.

It's a clear constant reminder just how much the world lost when he was driven to suicide. He was the programming equivalent of Nicola Tesla.
