The difference is that it kills the environment by using massive amounts of electricity. That criticism is fundamental: There is no viable "web3" offering not doing that.
You are actually wrong. Proof of stake blockchains consume much less. For instance on Tezos, transactions create less CO2 than sending an email (without an attachment). The environmental impact of email is colossal, let's criticize that for a minute ;)
