By talking to them. Sometimes this is as easy as walking over to their office space. Lunch is one way. If the company has town halls and people get beers afterwards that is a good time too (a lot of startups do this).

Listening carefully and asking questions goes a long way.

The "not my department" mentality doesn't help businesses succeed.

Culture is everything.
