this looks more like an ad for a game than a car. Has no real information on the physical car at all, and it looks kind of gimmicky to me. But, definitely piqued my interest, I do wonder how this will look like in 2025.
I struggle to see who this appeals to, until I remember the full car body anime decals I see periodically. I'm sure those drivers would be thrilled to be welcomed by a VTuber avatar. Of course, this is a concept, but one can dream.
The video script:
Move camera around a blurry car with buggy white lines around the window, after a dramatic long suspenseful buildup, show an anime character. The car greets the character by its name.
> The BMW Mixed Reality Slider is the central operating control that gradually transforms the windscreen into... a fully virtual world
> BMW i Vision Dee is a distinctive companion that shows emotions. Her headlights... form a uniform physical-digital (phygital) surface on which she visually expresses her emotions through animated facial expressions.
"Douglas Adams, Xzibit and Jony Ive walk into a blender."
If the entire windshield can be turned into a display you could have a car with the first version of "Joo Janta 200 Super-Chromatic Peril Sensitive Sunglasses" but in windshield form. If the car detects it's about to get into an accident it can block you from seeing the outside world or maybe display a happy field of flowers.
CEO Zipse "BMW i Vision Dee shows what’s possible when hardware and software are combined". Yeah, sure, although I don't like indicative mood in the sentence because, for example, e-ink on the on whole body is noting more than sci-fi, isn't it?
I wonder what's the point of "studies" like this, apart from showing off unlimited imagination. Or is it just another form of marketing BMW? They have something similar for motocyles:

But the people who lease them want the biggest grill possible. Just wait until they pull a Mercedes and make it light up at night!
There really is some meta-wisdom here about things not to do when building long-term organizations.
No idea what this is, is it virtual, is it in real life?
It’s not clear… let’s see whether the video makes it clearer.
Oh no, I have to accept some cookies first.
Ok… I visit the cookies policy page and select the minimum required settings.
Going back to the Dee page… it won’t allow me to watch the video without accepting all cookies.
Why? Who designs this sh!t?
If BMW can’t design an easy to use simple marketing / product web page, should I assume their in car UI is equally carelessly designed?
wtf???

Based on this I would say that such “studies” are the sign of a company soon going bust.
