next, Sweden.
Sweden is being blocked by Turkey. There is Turkey presidential election soon so new president will likely change the policy.
Why would Turkey block Sweden to enter NATO rightfully after what did happen to the Ukraine ?? Oo
Turkey alleges that Sweden protects terrorists who target Turkey. Until that issue is resolved, Turkey is unlikely to ever vote yes on Sweden joining.
Turkey has developed a pattern of opportunistic behavior.

Is there seriously big terrorism issues in Turkey or is this more a case of the right wheels not being greased?

Some countries see distressing situations like this, as an opportunity to gain something from themselves. Some call it politics, some more fitting term - a...holery.

Should keep poking the bear (who has nuclear bombs). Seems like a really good idea for what is mostly a symbolic gesture.
Or this is a step to ensure regional stability in the face of a superpower acting aggressive to their neighbors and the rest of the world.
The US is the aggressor. The neo-cons are de-stabilizing the world.

Yeah, it was devastating to see those American soldiers blowing up all those apartment buildings in Ukraine.
Lolwut. You work at a troll farm by chance?
In what universe is this symbolic? In the event that Russia invades Finland, it is the difference between “material support” and boots on the ground, no?
So... when a state annexes more and more of its neighbours, your suggestion is capitulation?
And how is this good for them or for NATO?
In the straightforward way that defensive pacts are beneficial? What kind of question is this?
Have you read the overly glorified Article 5?
I have (and the rest of the Washington Treaty, and the various accession protocols.).

What’s your point?

It does not guarantee any protection. And as Nigel Farage was saying, NATO won't start WWIII over one country being invaded.
What’s going on with HN that this topic seems to keep disappearing?

Based on votes/age this post: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=35438524 should still be on the first page, but it’s nowhere to be found

This topic is basically flame war bait not really tech adjacent either.
