Honestly it sounds like this is as much about steep competition as it is about the decline of crypto, there are already strong embedded players in the industry and Intel came pretty late

Intel came to the foundry business late too, but that hasn't stopped them from dumping billions into trying to compete with TSMC and Samsung

No. There are no similarities between bitcoin and "everything else". We can have decentralized money without the need of a county's energy consumption.

No, everything else competes to be more efficient. PoW is one thing broken by design that can never be optimized.

Even if your civilisation had a Dyson Sphere, there would be a race to waste 51% of it on PoW.
