The surprising thing about this is that 65% of the startups are not AI-focused.

I can’t be the only one exhausted by the discourse - it is an exciting technology but there are still other things to explore. This gives me some hope!

To some extent this will be like not being an internet company in 1992. Probably a stable bet, and you'll miss the crash and inevitable churn of a new market. But who wouldn't have wanted to be working on the internet in 1992?

pretty much. throw a bunch of shit at the wall and see what sticks.
bonus points for driving hype so you can attract most applicants and lay claim over a higher then average rate of success post hoc, à la Ivy League.
Not for YC at least. They weren't nearly as big on crypto.

To be fair to AI, I know people who use it daily and it provides value to them. It's a bubble, but there's something underneath.

I've never heard of crypto providing any value outside of speculative gambling.

VC are incentivising building an “AI” business right now with easier access to funding. Wouldn’t be surprised if half these companies would drop the AI moniker otherwise.
I'm curious how many of these are just recycling open ai.
