I wonder what the breaking point will be, and when it will arrive?

At some point, we'll start to deal with this, but I can't see it being any time soon.

When the wealth of the ruling class is under threat?
That breaking point has already arrived for many under developed countries, and for the industrial first world, the breaking point will arrive for them far after the point where something could have been done to change it. Since those effects haven't arrived yet for the first world, there's no interest in doing anything to change it.
And yet underdeveloped countries are not doing much to ameliorate climate change.
I don't think it'll be a single point. The calamity has been happening, but we aren't super directly threatened yet. However, my more pessimistic view is that as the climate changes, those with more resources will be more insulated to the effects, and we'll likely see climate refugees first, then wars because of the climate refugees and a loss of natural resources (like water).

Something, something, interesting times...

Well all I can say sorry young people, I did what I could, bicycling/walking to school, work and shops, no AC until 2 years ago (health).

A friend and I complained to many of our peers about Auto use for decades, but all we heard back was "but dangerous". I knew people would would drive 100 feet (~33 meters) to pick up a coffee when they were in there 20s. So sadly you get to pay for many of my peers ignorance, and maybe a bit on my part too.

Sadly, these individual contributions don't move the needle much. Like you, I've made many personal choices to mitigate my impact on the climate and environment, but humans are fickle and driven by game-theoretic pressures. If everyone stopped driving, we would see change, but without a law or forcing function, people will act selfishly, causing a chain reaction of inaction.
There are even people who will take pride on causing emissions when you tell them they should not. It's absolutely insane.
Also, Scientists failed to emphasise the biggest threat of Carbon Emissions: climate change ACCELERATION!!!

The Earth's climate has changed before. What's different this time is how FAST! No time for the earth to adjust.

Certainly the scientists did their best in alerting us. There was just too many powerful people who did not want us to listen.
What else is there to say? Humanity has proven that we cannot respond to this. Many many people and plants and animals will die because of this.
