The calls and evidence were crystal clear decades ago. The first people to raise the alarms are old and dying now. The first politicians and influential people to ignore those alarms are even richer and more respected than they were when they dismissed these problems a lifetime ago.

It is within human nature to not care about things they do not have to deal with personally. We are just taking on the debt of our forebears and the interests are knocking at the door. The younger gens will be even more miserable.

But humanity isn't going to die. Some more fragile social constructs will collapse but humanity as a whole will continue. Even a catastrophic climate scenario would not wipe out everyone. A lot may die but we will endure. For better or worse.

To be fair, Pres Carter brought up the issue in the 70s, but then Reagan came along and the US public went into complete denial, which is still in play today.
While I agree with most of what you said...

"It is within human nature to not care about things they do not have to deal with personally. "

Is people not caring about climate change (In North America and Europe specifically) because it will not really effect them in a major way (compared to poorer countries, or people is SE Asia) just humans acting like humans, and to get them to care is asking humans to not act like humans?

That is my personal belief, yes. A lot of the denier I talked to basically failed to see how climate change is real and even if it is real, what is the harm to them. They don't see the problem and so they don't want to act. That is the root of the issue.

It is hard to tell someone there would be a food shortage if that person spent only 1% of their income on meals and restaurants and still have a higher standard of living than most people. There are plenty of rooms for them to adjust and they genuinely do not see a problem.

climate change is real. Its been doing it for millennia. Man made climate change via co2 is a hoax to make money. Look at historical trends and zoom out.

CO2 is low. Plants need it to live. If the plants go - we do as well.
