this is very interesting to how western charm work in daily life.

How some of these edible charms are described makes me think they were sorta like tablets or edible vaccines, except faith-based.

Unless someone actually used them as medicine and then just perscribed faith-based/supernatural powers to them (so people wouldn't complain/accuse them of being witches)

I too have been known to eat small squares of paper to facilitate communion with the divine.
