This I fully agree with. At work, us developers always got the best laptops, but I always said, we should get slower systems to be sure our work works well on those systems.

Or at least, get 2 laptops, one good one for developing and a slow one for testing.

Recently, I found a 1024x768 monitor to be cramped but somehow comforting. A top-line one like an Ultrasharp is more affordable too.

However, web pages load in tablet mode. The world has progressed to much higher default resolutions.

Still, it's an interesting handicap for thinking "through" the display instead of trying to simulate omniscience.
