Immediately before the sentence you quoted: "Now the reason this mod is called Doom III is because it’s a sequel to Doom II. This has nothing in common with id Software’s Doom 3 game, which came out in 2004 and was a reboot."
If you’re interested in playing new Doom (2) levels, there is an extremely active community releasing unbelievably good levels regularly for free. Even John Romero himself has released 2 entirely new campaigns, the 2nd one late last year. Start from https://www.doomworld.com/cacowards/ and dive in.
I’ve been on a Doom binge for the last couple of months playing great mod after great mod, but nothing prepared me to the absolute humongous monstrosity that is Eviternity 2. This is GOTY 2024 and there is nothing that can possibly beat it! https://eviternity.dfdoom.com/
Edit: ok, this mod is kinda hilariously bad, and does not at all represent the Doom modding community. There are dozens of other 30-plus-level releases out there that are way, way better! For the curious, here is the discussion: https://www.doomworld.com/forum/topic/148659-doom-iii-doom-i...
And I bought it (a t-shirt). The whole thing is just incredible. It’s impossible to really convey the scale and the quality of the game without playing it. Each map has its own new soundtrack, each one more amazing than the previous. We’re talking about huge maps with hundreds of enemies that might take you hours to beat, secret levels, new weapons, enemies, etc.
I'm a big fan of Ashes 2034 and its sequel, a post-apocalyptic total conversion set in Atlanta. They are perhaps the most unexpectedly professional love letter to late 1990s shooters that I have seen.
You may have tuckered out on Doom. But to some of us, it and other boomer shooters are evergreen. Especially if there are high quality third-party levels to rip and tear through.

Go buy a console if you want a AAA experience or just don't play it. Jesus christ the complaining about a free game that someone built for fun is unbelievable.
This site is updated whenever I've completed playing a new WAD to add it to the list at the bottom. I'm a casual player, want to see enough ammo in the levels and like to have a moderate difficulty. If you feel the same, the list might be also for you.

[ 3.3 ms ] story [ 62.2 ms ] threadIt’s even worse when they use language like this. So this is a mod for the 2004 game or what?

I’m more interested in the umpteenth “x runs doom” post than more levels for a game most people never bother to complete in the first place.
