Too bad I can't reply to any of the comments in that thread. I'm guessing old threads are locked to prevent spam? Perhaps they can be "thawed" for a short time if a mod links to it in a situation like this.
It's my understanding that 'warming up' old topics like this is not a problem, and that commenting links to the previous threads is more for reference than to chastise.
It looks the security system in Rotterdam is as poor as other ones I've seen.
I was once in Mauritzhuis where the girl with the pearl earing is displayed and bumped a display (Accidentally) and an alarm went off. But it took almost a minute for security guards to reach the site. Clearly they do not have anything that links the alarms to video capture events to help them sort these out. That's tragic. It's such a simple thing to arrange.
Yes, because insurances don't have them valued, they just trust owners for the price.
Then it's even more profit because they get to keep the paintings to insure again, sell again, or put them on display at the owner's house? I'm not sure it's that easy to get away with.

[ 16.0 ms ] story [ 575 ms ] threadYou're also correct: threads are closed to new comments after 2 weeks. That's for a bunch of reasons, e.g. to preserve the history of the site.
