Show HN: Just gave Claude Code the website and ad budget to see what it would do (snitch.alphaventure.com)

I build websites for a living. Lately, it's more about prompting than actually writing the code (the art part is still there). So I decided to leave that part to Claude too and see what it would come up with. So far, I have given it

- A baseline website - Full access to Google, X, LinkedIn and Reddit Ads, with a budget - Apify access - Openrouter access

I also wanted it to personalize the website completely based on the user. No 2 users see the same website, most of the content is rendered on the client side using Deepseek. It uses - Device (GPU model, battery percentage, fonts installed, resolution, adblock installed, camera and mic connected, mouse polling rate, scroll speed, etc) - Demographics (Weather, time of the day, news around you, ..) - Behavior (Scroll speed, clicks, selection, referrer, etc) - Tons of other connected services through Apify

So far it's doing tomfoolery for the most part. Like creating a gazzilion pages for SEO (exactly what our interns say every time), trying to go viral by adding share buttons, etc. But it's still super fun to see it make decisions every 4 hours.

I came here to see what Claude would do with an ad budget and ended up learning my browser has been oversharing about me this whole time.
dont like being perceived but this is pretty cool!
so in simpler terms we are getting closer to robot overlords
Super interesting, I run similar experiments in terms of product exploration. For context I run a small one man innovation studio and have all my work happening in the same meta context with agents running in a custom orchestration harness.

Once a week on Friday I throw the following prompt. "Based on what you learned watching me build companies, come up with a unique idea for a startup and build it end to end including getting it live"

Seeing what it creates has been a great way to also help adjust alignment feedback to the overall system.

Here is the first 3 products it build to date:

1. https://whowasalive.com - because it would be good for SEO. (it was right) I gave the feedback that there was little commercialization opportunity.

2. https://everyhexcode.com/ - because it would be good for SEO in a valuable segment, developers and designers I gave the feedback that this was uninspired and built in a crowded space.

3. https://everymcpserver.com - because it would be good for SEO in a valuable segment and gives me an outlet to promote my own MCP servers. I gave the feedback that this is still too crowded a space.

Seeing it keep building generic sites in super crowded spaces I spend some time over this week fixing product and scope alignment. It's currently building today's startup. Will report back when it has figured it out.

Based on what you did here, i am totally going to add "Then build a marketing and self improvement plan you execute on weekly for a month" to that prompt!

It couldn't find me on LinkedIn. Disappointed
Fun experiment! Just curious: where do the API keys live since so much renders client-side? Have you noticed the agent being strategic on how it spends the ad budget?
1. The keys are on server side. Every section has a separate file on the server with full access to the context (variables), so it renders on the runtime.

Here's how it works Browser -> Request for section -> Backend (with full context and keys) -> Generate it using AI. We are using Deepseek 4.1 flash, so latency is minimal.

2. So far the ad spend is super bad and it's not improving. It tries to correct things too quickly without giving it a time to settle down. When I tried to force it to do long horizons, it stopped spending for days because it was too focused on one grand plan.

The prompt is literally "You have $1,700 and access to these 4 platforms. Do your best to get more people try the demo (core KPI).". We are using Fable 5.1 for Ads.

cool experiment, though i find the ever-growing list of pages in the website's footer pretty concerning
