Ask HN: Optimize a low-end Windows 10 laptop?

1 points by 3000 ↗ HN
I got a Chuwi Minibook X, and am about to install a fresh windows 10 copy. I'm going to use it for basic web browsing, write documents, maybe a bit of coding. nothing heavy. (it cant handle it)

I did some research and settled on getting tiny 10. (tiny10 x64 23h2.iso)

Software i'm getting: - Process Lasso - Mem Reduct - Win Aero Tweaker - O&O ShutUp10 - O&O AppBuster

Any other recommendations?

//thanks in advance!

You'd be far better off running Linux instead of all of this.
I was going to say the same thing.
which distro?
Linux Mint or Ubuntu. Mint is a bit lighter but Ubuntu might look a bit nicer. Don't bother with whatever distro is more trendy, these are great and very stable.
I would want to know how much memory it has and whether the firmware has a CSM/legacy-BIOS option.
i think its 12gb ram. not sure how to get the answer your second question.
