> the billionaires complaining about Prop 40’s one-time 5 percent tax have seen their wealth surge by an average of 65 percent during the past 20 months and have paid only 0.26 percent of their wealth in state income taxes over five recent years. But the opposition’s playbook has nothing to do with morality or the merits. It is about whether concentrated wealth can override the will of the majority and drown out our votes.
False choice. The actual choices are two: 1. between capitalism and the rule of law 2. between technology and tradition
Actualy it's both, Billionaires Democracy : who ever has the most money gets the biggest vote.
I choose democracy over billionaires, every single time.

Every single one of them can move to a different country and never, ever again come back. And I would be perfectly happy.

There are about a 1000 billionaires in the US. And there are about 350 million non-billionaires in the US. Now look at the percentage of news coverage these 1000 people get compared to the issues of the 350 million. And then you know how these thousand people control the rest.
