What's a unicon?

Edit: not unicorn!!

A metaphor for "something which doesn't exist."
Is this satire?

I mean, it's not "reasonable", but it's also not over-the-top. On the other hand, there's a bunch of things in here that are legally unacceptable: under 30, "just a nice dude" sexism, etc.

Also, Career Harbour's website is down: http://www.careerharbour.co.uk/

"8. Just a nice dude"

Women need not apply either, I suppose.

Well, have you ever seen a female unicorn? Me neither ;)

Edit: I mean in reality - Google will gladly find you a googol of nonexistent things.

I have seen many. You could probably use Google to find them yourself.
They missed the requirement where the candidate must be willing to work for peanuts too. I guess they didn't want to scare people off. :)
"Under 30 years old" - is that legal?
Not sure about the UK, a little of the googles shows me that there are age discrimination laws there. I don't know if its kosher or just another indicator of this firm's cluelessness. (edit: or satire?)
No. There are some very strictly controlled situations where a UK employer can discriminate on age, and this comes nowhere near.

This document contains a bunch of stuff (long hours; sex; age) that UK employers just can't do. I suspect that Career Harbour is about to discover what regulation feels like.

Always takes me aback when I see age explicitly specified in a job description. That wouldn't fly in the US, you have to be more subtle with age discrimination here.
That, plus gender. "Just a nice dude"

There's something to be said about a job application that goes beyond the resume and cover letter. That being said, there are a few red flags.

- http://www.careerharbour.co.uk/ - this is a broken link.

- "Started coding before the candidate was ten years old" - I think that your slope is much more important than you y-intercept.

- "Just a nice dude" - what about the nice dudettes?

- "Working hard and long hours often until 2 am" & "work minimum 35 hours a week" - these are a strange combination of requirements.

Minimum requirements:

* Random library that any eng could learn in a day

Actually this much be a joke. I bit.
Jeez, what idiots. I think the biggest turn-offs (for me, in no particular order) would be

* video intro * scrapy framework * under 30s only * passport copy required

Because: Video? No chance. Emphasis on easy to use framework? Ha. Under 30 only? .. why? That makes no sense (and is probably illegal) Passport copy required - that's mine, and you're not getting it.

And not only would the ideal candidate be hard to find, the recruiter doesn't seem to exist at

http://www.careerharbour.co.uk/

either...

> Just a nice dude

I guess female unicorns can't apply.

> Passport or ID copy

Nope, I will never send my passport copy to a random email address - this is even illegal in certain places.

The unfortunate thing is, this person does exist. They might even take this job. And it will probably grind them to dust.
Is this a joke?

Fast and accurate proficiency in: 2. Under 30 years old 4. Started coding before the can- didate was ten years old

These are the common behaviours of our ideal candidate: 2. Wearing headphones and listing to music when they code 3. Working hard and long hours often until 2 am

...

Hell, those are the worst, but the whole thing is a farce... !
