I've always been a huge Gorillaz fan. Such a good name because a group of gorillas is called a band. They have made some really unique music that is almost a new genre.
I'm very interested in this tooling for one project in particular. However, I don't think you can assign global hotkeys or minimize things to the system tray. At least I haven't found a way through research yet. I have…
I have found soft deletes to be really helpful to preserve historical references and as a simple but reversible enable disable switch. Sometimes a really destructive delete isn't something you want to do by default. I…
Imagine how many times this happened way back when. You had no real way to prove it easily. I'd say that was the culprit of many people blaming gremlins gnomes and the like.
Meant to say The Martian - Solid new hard sci-fi, very different from the movie.
Marrow - A group of people find a Jupiter sized ship of unknown origin and start a galactic cruise with many different species in the far high tech future. The Stars My Destination Starship Troopers - very different…
If you have enough of a bond, I'd have a chat with him. I'd explain that as a smart person and valued member of the team his verbal output would really help. I'd say his perspective would be great to hear more as you…
These kinds of features being so limited annoys me. Like GoPro can only auto clear a video from your sd card that has been uploaded on the newest model. There is no way that is limited to those devices. But, it probably…
I've used Replit for love coding interviews when we are talking with candidates. From what I have seen I don't think I would choose to switch to it for a large project. However, it is nice for quick examples of a way…
Search for videos tagged by listenable. They have a pretty good handle on what you can skip the video for. One great option is standup comedy, it really breaks up just standard music or podcasts/informational videos.…
There is something special about it. I remember seeing it for the first time and it seemed like a movie set because I had watched so many scenes in so many films that were shot there but, never actually laid eyes on it.
I really liked quite a bit of it. There are some points I wasn't too sure of however, it gives a great counterpoint to the endless conveniences that modern society provides. I would recommend it, I still run I to thi is…
Anytime I hear about outdoor advertising I think of a quote I saw in the book Civilized to Death. A long time ago man saw Times Square and sat in silence. A few people asked him what he thought. He said this would be…
I'd say a hobby always does well to build up a group. I've had a great time meeting people riding dirt bikes and cycling. Gives you a good chance to do group rides and you'll be surprised how small of a world it is. It…
Yeah it is funny what you will discover when you are forced to use something you can change. You also sadly realize how much software gets shipped that if the person who wrote it used it, would hate it. You have…
Can you imagine the founder of White Castle being shown this in some quick burst of future vision? He would have to have his mind blown beyond belief. He was born in 1880.…
Whenever I am on a project, I try to write any tooling (code generators, utils, scripts, etc) in the tech that it uses. This forces you to broaden your horizons in the tooling. I even have a toolbox git repo that has a…
Generally when this happens it is because of context. You are clearly setting out to have fun and searching for the joy you did find originally. Most of the time this context is either the problem space, team/political…
That sounds like a really cool set of tests, I'll have to check that link out. I have glued a few guitar headstocks after some nasty cracks. With only standard wood glue they would hold great. The strings apply a lot of…
I'm a fan of woodworking myself. A lot of people in my family have done it for years, so I've grown-up around it. I don't know of any books (I'll be watching this thread for recommendations myself.) As with many…
I prefer relational databases for most cases unless I really need to use a non-relational store. I also use foreign keys whenever possible. From what I have seen, anything to enforce referential integrity is a benefit…
The most solid fundamentals have been mostly true throughout great software. Even older books can hold a great deal of wisdom. Engineers now seem to lean on books less, I think it is a great way to learn about tech and…
Honestly, one of the biggest missteps we have had in the last 100 years is stopping the Apollo program. We would have probably been on Mars in the 80's and reaching out past that by now for sure. In general, I think a…
From the sounds of it you have a lot of great experience. We have an awesome team and we are currently expanding. Email me at: Cody@Mandsc.com I'd really enjoy the chance to talk with you.
This does even change vintage car prices, certain places out west (Arizona, Utah etc) vintage cars typically are less rare (and therefore cost less generally.) Whereas snow, the salt used to treat roads and rain will…
