It looks like their traffic has been fairly flat. I'd guess just over 1,000 unique users a day based on their Alexa rating, and a number of sites I run for comparison numbers. At the peak of their popularity, it would…
Header bidding. You sign up with a number of popular bidders (OpenX, AppNexus, Rubicon, AOL, Criteo, Sovrn, etc), and they all bid against each other in real-time. You then relay that bid to AdX/AdSense, and Google…
I've spent a couple of years in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Poland, Croatia, Montenegro and Serbia. All of those countries are incredibly safe. The worst that ever happened was a couple of taxi drivers…
It's good for advertising. For example, Facebook analyzes all of your photos, and realizes there are a high number of images with sailboats. That means you might have an interest in sailing, travel offers, or outdoor…
I'd focus on better understanding an AWS workflow, and use the credits to cover those small fees that are going to add up during your experimentation and testing. For example... Setup a web server, and database server…
Could you explain why you think you're in a good position? From what I understand, the comments are owned by the users, and by posting them to IMDb, they allowed IMDb and their affiliates the right to use them. The…
How many times has WhatsApp been blocked in Brazil? What's your advice for those 100 million users when it stops working? Switch to another centralized messenger, and convince their friends and family members around the…
If it's backups, you could just encrypt everything prior to uploading.
Abandonware.
I think Uber has a huge advantage. If you start a new transportation service in NYC, Uber can just flip a switch, undercut your NYC prices by $2 per ride, and make up the difference by raising prices $0.10 per ride in…
I have a related story. I was in North America, looking for an apartment in Australia. At the time I'd buy phone cards for long distance calls, and they'd always work fine. So, I used the phone card, and tried to call…
I use a CDN for js/css/fonts/images, but the $270/mo is the bandwidth for the gzipped HTML going out from the web servers.
Let me get this straight, right now AWS is billing me $270/mo for 3TB of bandwidth on my autoscaling web servers. With LightSail, I can get that same bandwidth, plus storage and instances for $15/mo? In total, I'm…
I thought the same, but it turns out you need to type a word into that input box to see the logos. The words scrolling are just examples you could type.
You'd sell more, until the competition lowered their prices to compete. At that point, everyone in the industry (including yourself) would be making less profits. Great for consumers, bad for your business.
Don't must of these services (Skype, Facebook, WhatsApp), load the URL to fetch a thumbnail, page title, and page description, to show in the chat window instead of just the URL?
You could also pay an accountant for a year, and then you have a copy of the forms they prepared, and you can ask questions. At that point, you have a template you can use for future years.
Search is their primary business though. I can't see them jeopardizing that by blacklisting a random competitor that poked fun at them in a presentation. It makes no sense. However, they're the only ones that know their…
> At least i'm able to take a break when i can. I just want it all finished on time. If I learned anything working for myself the past decade, it's that you're never finished. You need to set aside time for yourself and…
What's the advantage of removing posts and comments after 24 hours? I'll list the negatives. 1. You kill all of your organic traffic. Google isn't going to index your deleted posts and comments, so no one is going to be…
It works in hostels because like you said, most people are traveling. This means they're only in the city for a night or two, so they want to socialize, meet local people or other travelers as part of their adventure,…
It's useful on slower connections, if you're trying to locate and move to an area of a video that's already loaded, without aimlessly clicking around. It also sort of acts as a bookmark, to know what you've watched.…
Google Fiber was never in my city, but can those with Google Fiber in their area weigh in on the above? When Fiber came to town, what happened with the existing ISPs in the area? If you called to cancel and explained…
Agreed, I watched the video and came here to see related comments. Now I need to wade through the other topic that I read yesterday, searching for new ones related to this post. In short, I'm off to Reddit to find a…
I agree, their hardware sells because of their games. Profits are in game sales and not hardware though, so why sell proprietary hardware in the first place, if it just vastly limits the audience for your game sales?
