I'm lost as to why Grunt is a problem. I tried to put all of my build scripts in the package.json but moving to Grunt has been incredibly useful.
I would hesitate to say it's very, very bad. I don't filter people on Facebook only because I disagree with them; I filter people on Facebook because, at one point, I really enjoyed the company of that person and their…
I'm sorry but this article reads like a narcissistic wet dream. The author continues to quote himself and even misquotes himself several times (look up "facebook has tried tried to remedy" and "facebook has tried to…
This is probably going to be an unpopular opinion but I think the current push to make native feelings apps in JS is awesome. Playing with an app like Untappd and then realizing it's written by (at least originally) 2…
Awesome. Thanks again for the write up. I love reading well written Javascript.
Sounds like something I should give a try myself in a pull request.
Very cool tool. Just curious as to why directories are not selectable. I did "ls | fpp" and everything got listed (directories and files) but only the files were selectable.
I had way too much fun sliding the Hue Rotation back and forth to create Disco Kitty. Thanks for sharing, I knew about blur and opacity but the rest of these were new to me.
Excuse me for being unreasonably giddy but I've been eager as hell for this to be released for a time. I have grown to adore React and React Native and really enjoyed Flux. Facebook dev hitting on all cylinders!
I think it's more of a proof of concept than something you'd really want to throw on a site. Also, I'd say there could be some potential uses like for a music player or for a site that's less app and more website.
This honestly just sounds like a recruiter trying to get their numbers of hires up by getting more people to interview. I too was told I'd be a great fit at Google but in my interview my lack of intense algorithm study…
Everything about this sounds better than my current plan with Verizon except the coverage. Looking at their coverage map in central Virginia scares me because of the large areas of no coverage.
Crap, sorry everyone for the crappy math. I did 672 * 12 instead of 672 * 12 * 12. Thanks to those who figured it out!
Given a large Billboard (http://www.lamar.com/Products/Bulletins) size of 672 sq. ft. unless my math is wrong (could be) you're paying $100 for about .8 square inches. That would be visible from what? 5-6 feet away?
Never heard of SelfControlApp but looking at it, it might be just what I need since I just started working remote a few months ago. Thanks for the link!
It sounds more like they're doubling down trying to make this "hacker" seem more malicious than he was to draw attention away from the fact that their security measures are pretty atrocious.
It's not the plot we deserved but the plot we needed.
While I am a vim user, I love seeing people having conferences to promote editors that aren't IDEs. Don't get me wrong, Eclipse and Visual Studio are great tools but nothing beats being able to open vim (or emacs in…
I wonder if they are letting the smaller apps (like Untappd) be their check-in frontend and they basically just aggregate up all the locations the people have "checked-in". With Untappd, to create a new location, you…
This has got to be entirely for their location data. While I see the migration of check-ins to swarm as Foursquares way to say individual check-in data is largely useless, their data on latitude and longitude of…
well some of the tracks do but most of the links at the bottom are purely just links to the resources.
If you're interested in getting your feet wet with JS, not in a web developer sense, Codewars.com has some cool coding challenges that can be done in JS. When it comes to frameworks, I've found that AngularJS is…
https://www.bento.io/ is pretty good for a list of teach-yourself-technology. I would also check out Codeschool (although they're not free) because they have some really great classes on everything from Rails to jquery…
Wouldn't using a VPN help if you're that concerned?
Dunno udemy. Coursera seems to offer more of an academic lesson plan (learn linear algebra, algorithms, history of modern China) which doesn't seem very applicable to a specific tech job. These are more for people who…
