I don’t know about curing loneliness but when I wrote our bot for doing code reviews I was quite thrown back by how positive and sympathetic the feedback was compared to my peers. It felt like my bot human than us…
That’s how the market works. You avoid paying extra taxes than required right? Even though that denies the government extra funding. The only difference being one has been decided as wrong and the other is fine.
Until they drop down to deliver and take off again?
FUSE is cool. Can’t believe it’s been a decade since I played with it here to make a ‘weather file system’ https://github.com/danielgrigg/city_weather_fs
Can you elaborate on why ‘many large companies’ are choosing MongoDB over alternatives and what their use cases are? I’ve been using Mdb for a decade and with how rich the DB landscape is for optimising particular…
The IntelliJ http client is pretty great too (after using both postman and insomnia) if you use IntelliJ already.
Yes and no. The aggressive marketing is successfully entrenching it to future generations so whether it’s successful with the current gen of c++ programmers or even GC languages like Java doesn’t really matter imo.
People practice personas everyday of their lives, the only difference in the post is the explicit labelling of them. The avatar I present here is different to how I behave in person, or how I engage at work, my friends,…
I’m sure there were many discussions that led to concluding some of the languages design decisions and how they’d be impactful for ‘coding in the meta verse’, would love to see slides on that too.
Nice idea though what happens is you manage to quickly recruit the person and then a month later the other job that they’ve been slowly recruited on, eventuates and they walk off, leaving you worse off than if you never…
I’m not suggesting apple is doing nefarious, it was simply an example of a large dataset. I assume they’re encrypting/scrubbing all your PII as that’s their whole motto. But unless they’re doing some voodoo magic then…
Or it tells us something of how much data is being scooped up per device. Certainly when I look through the raw health data collected it’s quite alarming and I’m sure that’s just a drop in the ocean.
If you’re using apple and just want a custom domain you can do so with an iCloud+ subscription. I switched away to it from Fastmail and have been happy since.
This sounds like you’re just externalising the costs of integration of your changes on to other people. Generally we want to reduce any accidentally complexity and the way to achieve that is to reduce the latency of…
Your experience is different to mine. Here in Australia the status page was inaccessible. Which immediately leads to common wisdom on monitoring systems - the monitor must always be separate to the monitored.
Cool, we’ve reached the point where to improve our chances of protecting free public speech we have to abandon the public stock market and entrust it to a benevolent few.
Change starts with the individual. Inspire others with your actions. For example I may lack the sway to affect political action on climate change but I can still change the way I live - solar power, consume less meat,…
The airports are private owned so your argument goes either way with the CEO/investors deciding to demolish whole suburbs and plonk an airport with all its detrimental effects on human health in the middle of a city.…
Given the size I wonder if it’d make a practical laptop replacement for work? Just toss in your bag when you go home!
Do you have a reference on how quiet these are? I mean it’s fantastic if true but half the reason my MBP gathers dust is the noise under load compared to my (almost) silent 5950x under load. But yes it’s a big box that…
Do you have any benchmarks of the two to share against a mean to ensure its built optimally? Maybe something like https://opendata.blender.org ? It's painful hearing random anecdotes only to learn the person didn't…
Is that the US? Pricing can be weird depending on region. In AU a leaf starts at $50K, a model3 at $60K, not much difference really. The cheapest here actually is the MG at 45K. But more competitors are starting to ramp…
In the short term, both. Longer term yes, many countries would migrate to other systems which mitigates the value of SWIFT. Fear of that happening is part of the reluctance to use it as a political weapon.
Your claim of $37M is horrifying given in slide 4 they estimate real transactions at 5/min or 7200/day. I’ll leave you to calculate the cost per month (it’s much higher than 14c).
Take a look into micronaut too, I’ve used it for a couple things and it’s pretty full featured even though it’s geared towards micro services. Very easy to migrate to from spring too.
