I really feel like the Linux foundation should fund development for a desktop focused OS based on Linux. The current state just isn't good enough. Apple did it years ago with OS X, so I don't see why can't it happen…
Actually docker for windows with docker compose workdir syncing might be enough. Gonna try it over the weekend
Hard disagree on the syntax. ML languages to me have the best syntax and their ease of currying is extremely attractive.
There is also F#, open source and available in .net core on multiple platforms
Microsoft also have Microsoft Research Cambridge. Where I am pretty sure they have Simon Peyton Jones who works on Haskell there.
