Congrats on finding life outside of AWS. Sucks to hear about all the turmoil going on in the US and at Amazon. I had a great time durning my tenure and almost boomoranged back.
When I was at AWS, retail was not yet running on AWS. Has that changed? Prime video does use some AWS services, but live and on-demand are two entirely different beasts.

Along with the public APIs, An AWS service can also have Console APIs that are specifically for the console. These APIs do not have the same constraints as the public api. (My team built the MediaLive service)
