I agree with you but the Raspberry Pi's USP is the GPIO interfacing capability and the community surrounding it. You don't get these things with a second hand computer.
Rather than using DietPi for my devices around my home I use Balena (balena.io), which seems to cover the same area. In addition it has a dashboard so I can see the status of the devices too. Balena is Docker based. No…

It is interesting to see the ESR (Equivalent series resistance) of the capacitors replaced too. This can be more significant than the absolute capacitance.

I don't think we could afford anything, but I could over a period of time build my own.
During my Personal Trainer course a few years ago it was stated that an athletic build does not affect BMI
If I was going to use a Raspberry Pi for commercial use I would want full control over the OS and use Open Embedded etc, just like I have done for NXP etc. That way I have full control over my system. I think the…

Yeah, with a small screwdriver. See https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-54468207.
I would put a suitable USB plug on it rather than wiring to the GPIO pins as I am certain in a rush I would plug it in wrongly damaging the Pi!
To start the ARM processor in aarch64 (64bit) mode is just a question of setting the flag in the arm control (arm_control=0x0200) register to 0x0200 in the config.txt. see the discussion at…
