It’s already widely reported that race is a major risk factor for COVID-19. I doubt fears of looking like a racist are holding people back from reporting that non-racial identifiers contribute to the disease.

It just depends how much capacity they provision. You could overprovision by 10000% like you suggest, or 50%. You can scale based on demand but it’s normal to have a lag.
As an ad-supported service, I wouldn’t be surprised if Reddit refuse to serve clients that don’t show ads. On the other hand, I don’t think their API that Apollo is using includes ads. Same deal with third-party Twitter…
