Ask HN: What's your favorite thing you vibe coded for your own personal use

I’m not talking about your grand ambitious SaaS startup or your mega open source project. Whats the favorite thing you’ve built just for you and your friends and family to use. I’ll start.

Meem Makr is a lolcat maker featuring my actual cats. I use it every morning to tell the rest of the family when coffee is ready.

Creating solutions, processes, connectors, CLIs, and automations to improve my productivity. I believe that 20% of my time with AI is like improving the other 80%.

A Python script that tracks stock prices, analyzes historical market data, and generates forecasts every day. I wrote it because I was tired of manually collecting stock data, running analyses, and comparing predictions. It's ugly, but I've used it almost every day for over a year.

How good are the predictions? Have you made any trades on this data?

I'm also curious if you've had any success with it. Any strategy I try with backtests just reminds me you always need an edge.

I built HostsTray https://github.com/maxmart/hoststray

It's kind of like SwitchHosts but also has a reverse HTTPS proxy builtin, that installs a self-signed CA and generates certs on-the-fly. Also it forces browser to "flush" their DNS by killing the keep-alive connections that for example Chrome keeps open. And it can be controlled by your local coding agent through a simple API (which also serves the skill for it)
