Nope. If you count growth by population increases, Houston is growing more than 4 times faster than SF and still able to keep housing costs low.
Well an H1b is basically like an indentured servant that works for a fraction of the cost and much longer hours. Some Companies want low cost labor.
When you get rejected, it’s not about you. There’s just too many high quality candidates and too few positions. It’s just the inevitable outcome of a vast oversupply of talent
Considering the massive over supply of labor, I’d say they could very easily replace that 20% several times over before they had any problems finding more engineers.
Sure there’s land everywhere especially in the east bay I can see miles and miles of empty space even from 580 I meant politically, the Bimbys don’t want more people in the bay area that’s why so many anti growth…

Talent shortage is a myth. Companies place themselves in the worst locations which are the least accessible places in the US (extremely high rent and commute distance) and then wonder why they only get a modest number…
The vast oversupply of talent has gotten so large employers can’t even be bothered to read resumes anymore: Ai will. This is what happens when ever larger percentage of society gets more and more degrees
I seriously doubt you can “slack off” and keep your job. I think your probably being to hard on yourself. Imposter syndrome happens to many
No. Most android phones come with a ton of ininstallable apps that take up a huge amount of room
Of course it’s not called that It’s called a corporate restructuring. Or they’ll just fire a few people here and there until they get to 10%. They call it “we re heading in a new direction”

Decentralized services won’t help at all unless the means by which people find stuff on the web is decentralized: google.
